Changes to the functions of Healthwatch
Read how new legislation will affect the functions of Healthwatch West Northamptonshire and other local Healthwatch and Healthwatch England.
The government has recently published Dr Penny Dash's Review of patient safety across the health and care landscape. The government has accepted the recommendations made regarding Healthwatch, meaning that when time allows:
- The functions of Local Healthwatch will be transferred to Integrated Care Boards and local authorities
- The functions of Healthwatch England will be transferred to the Department of Health and Social Care
While these changes will happen over time, the law has not yet been changed. This means we are still here, open, and working for you. We will continue to:
- Listen to your experiences of health and social care
- Share what we hear with those in power to help improve services
- Provide advice and signposting information to help you find the support you need
